Pascal Jeanjean was born in Saint Cloud, France, in 1962. He completed a Master’s degree in comparative literature at the American University in Paris.
He was attracted to the techniques and history of paper at the end of the 1980s. He perfected his craft while working in French paper mills where these techniques of handmade paper are still preserved. He then became initiated into the printing of rare books and bibliophilism with Blaizot in Paris.
He was soon recognized as an expert in the production of alpha, Holland, China and Japan papers. He is a specialist of watermarks and has acquired complete mastery of restoration techniques, to the extent that, already in 1992, an article in The World of Interiors referred to him as one of "the best handmade-paper-makers in Europe."
Once he mastered the techniques of handmade paper, Pascal naturally turned his attention to printing techniques, lithography, copper plate engravings etc. The combination of his two interests has recently inspired him to found his own firm specializing in the printing of rare books : " Les Éditions de la Main Fleurie ".
