Oppenheimer
Edition of Audubon's
50 Best Watercolors

The world's first actual size limited edition of the original Audubon watercolors in the collection of the New-York Historical Society.

The original Audubon paintings are among the most important created in nineteenth century America. They were acquired directly from John James Audubon's widow, Lucy in 1863 and have never since been or will be on the market. The edition size is limited to 200 sets which coincides with the same number of sets that Audubon first produced in the Havell Edition of hand-colored engravings published 1826-1838. The agreement between Oppenheimer and the Historical Society prohibits the production of another such edition for a minimum of seventy-five years. This exclusive arrangement assures collectors of the rarity of this spectacular watercolor edition.

This edition represents the only opportunity for collectors or institutions to own these pictures as actual size fine art prints. It will become collectible as an original Audubon print edition. One complete set will be in the collection of the New-York Historical Society. The original paintings can only be exhibited for six weeks every ten years. This edition will offer collectors and the public the opportunity to see these famous images on a more regular basis.

Complete sets are currently available at a pre-publication price of $37,500.00 each. Individual print prices start at $2,500.00 each.
